Summary: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her boyfriend—before she’s banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance—and the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld and is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen.

As Nikki’s time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s queen.

Everneath is a captivating story of love, loss, and immortality from debut author Brodi Ashton.  (Goodreads)

My Thoughts: It’s my second time reading this book. In the first attempt I wasn’t able to finish it but I borrowed the book again and read it. And I did it. I guess when i reading it the first time, I lost faith in books and the cause of it is mainly due to my first dystopian novel Eve by Anna Carey. I just couldn’t tolerate Eve she’s so naive and I pictured the male protagonist (Idk what’s his name) to be a forest gnome. Ya, anyways I hated that book.

I really enjoyed this part. All the characters are just so great and I admire the love Nikki and Jack has. Its just so strong. Its the kind of selfless love. That’s not usually the kind that we see in typical YA novels. And I love the idea of adapting the Greek mythology and making it into a modern version. She also added in some Egyptian mythology in it. So its kinda interesting. There are other books revolving around Hades and Persephone but this is the best I’ve read so far. I would really recommend it if you are looking for books about greek mythology with a little twist in it. I’m looking forward to the next book Everbound. The third book Evertrue will be released in Jan 2014.

1. I hate Coles. He’s annoying. Most he’s around Eve. He was also the one who caused Nikki to lose faith in Jack though she knows is not the case and made her approach him to take away her pain and brought her to the Everneath. He’s like a psychopath. Why do this to her? I want to punch him in the face for toying on people’s feelings since he has the ability to make them feel how he wants them to be. That’s disgusting. I dont mind the feeding part but manipulating people’s feelings is so dirty.. Yes they are immortals but that doesn’t mean they can go around causing people to have meaningless conflicts just so he can feed on them. or whatsoever.

2. Jack. Oh he’s like the perfect boyfriend. Although Nikki disappeared, and went into the Everneath with stupid Cole, he still had on to her despite people around him telling him to get over it and move on. He still had faith in their love and really admire that though it sometimes breaks him apart.

3. Nikki. Whilst in the Everneath, she also thought about Jack most of the time. And when she came back, she felt that it was better for Jack to forget about her and move on. She’s so selfless although she loves him and she is well aware of her circumstances she’s in and her motive of coming back is to end things on Earth well before going back to the Everneath forever. She thought about the time when she abruptly left for the Everneath, living her loved ones all panicky.
