Review: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1)Title: Unearthly (Unearthly #!)
Author: Cynthia Hand
Format: Paperback (Egmont Books | Borrowed)
Find it on: Goodreads here and Book Depository here
Summary (Goodreads): In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn’t easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place and out of place at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

My thoughts: Amazing angel books. Even better than Lauren Kate’s Fallen series. What I liked about this book is the twists. And the book is so beautiful that it brought me to tears. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book — Hallowed. The characters were amazing. Although Clara got under Kay’s bad side, she didn’t seemed to care about it. Clara’s mum is cool although she’s 100 over years old but very supportive of her daughter. Clara’s cute brother who says stuff like Silver Avalanche coming up the driveway. Hahaha that cute, he’s like security, telling Clara who came. Clara’s amazing human friend who has loaned her twin Tucker to her. Clara’s angel friend Angela she gets on my nerves — when Clara had the vision in front of Wendy and passed out, Angela said that she had a medical condition instead of letting Clara’s mom do the explaining or Clara herself. She made Wendy jealous that Angela knows more about Clara than she does. Sometimes, it seems that she can’t get hold of herself when she gets excited. Plus she’s clingy. This book is just so good that I practically whizzed through it.
Rating: 5/5 stars

The ending. Ended up Christian is also of angel-blood and the person he’s supposed to save is Clara. In his vision, Clara was a blond but since Clara dyed her hair orengy-red he couldn’t recognise her. Aww…. But wait, how about Tucker. The guy whom Clara went through so much with. Although I ship Clara and Christian but somehow Tucker got dragged into the picture. Will Tucker finally see the full picture that Clara and Christian see. Or will he continue dating Clara while Christian watched them from the sideline, trying to do something about it. And will they purpose sorta be accomplished
