Title: Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4)
Author: Richelle Mead
Format: Paperback (Razorbill| owned)
Summary (Goodreads):The recent attack on St. Vladimir’s Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose’s neck, a mark that says she’s killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life’s vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She’ll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?
Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir’s and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?
My Thoughts (Contains spoilers):
Rose is leaving St Vladimir’s Academy to hunt down Dimitri and the parting with Lissa is so heart wrenching. It’s like losing a part of your soul cause they are bonded. On her way to Dimitri’s hometown she met Sydney the Alchemist who helped her to get to Dimitri’s hometown. Both didn’t start off on even grounds and therefore both were rather cold towards one another. And so we knew more about who the Alchemists were and what role they played in the Moroi world. In Dimitri’s hometown, we saw that the female dhampirs still goes to school but did not choose the guardian route as they were expected to take care of their families. And Dimitri’s family suggested that Rose stayed with them and she can continue her schooling. Also we met Mazur who has a rather huge influence in the Moroi world who kept convincing Rose to return to the US and saying she dosen’t belong here and her she shouldn’t continue her chase. Then we met this married couple who are spirit bounded. One a moroi and the other a dhampir. So they shared their experiences with Rose. Also Adrian visits Rose in her dreams once in a while and Rose also slips into Lissa’s mind to see how’s she’s been. And Rose decided to follow a group of guys who are on a hunt to kill any Strigoi they meet. And through this way she met Dimitri and when she did she stoned and he knocked her in her head and she went unconscious from there. Dimitri brought her back to where he is currently residing. He kept telling her the perks of being of Strigoi. He too also fed on her hoping that but doing that it will convince her somehow. But she was given a time frame. If she still reject his offer he would force her to become a Strigoi. But Rose being such a kick ass, she managed to escape from her captivity and Dimitri chasing her hot on her heels. She managed to trick him and he feel into the river. She thought that the waters have killed him and managed to hit a ride back to the city where she contacted Sydney to send someone to pick her up. When she woke up the next morning, she say Mazur again and when she slipped into Lissa’s mind, she realised that Lissa’s in trouble and she says she needs to fly back to US immediately but given her physical condition she is not allowed to. With the help of the Spirit bound couple she managed to save Lissa in a nick of time. We also found another spirit user and she was way more powerful than the other spirit users we known off. When Rose met her mother, she told her that Rose met her father. That’s when she realised that Mazur was her dad. Also, Rose was allowed to continue schooling at St. Vladimir’s. Just when we thought that everything is in palce, Rose received a note from Dimitri saying that he will kill her this time around. Creepy. Omg why is Rose’s life filled with so much turmoil and unrest. Not a second of her life is not filled with something threatening her or her loved ones. I’m so psyched for the next book but unfortunately I have not get my hands on it. I hope I can so that that burning suspense in me will disappear. I too hope that the next two will be as exhilarating as this one. At some parts I felt as if I was holding my breath.
